The controllers are mounted near the devices that have to be controlled. The information is transmitted through a RS485 interface in 2-wire technology. A serial module of the system-MDP together with a basiscard can be used to controll the system. The communication between the controller and the host is done by an open protocol that is based on short commanding telegrams. Up to 31 controllers can be connected to the bus. Its length can be up to 1200 meters. Each controller has galvanically separated input and output ports that are constructed for the usual 24V technology. A controller with eight inputs/outputs can be ordered, other types with 16 and 24 I/O-channels are currently developed.
